The City That Never Sleeps

Back in February of 2019 my mum grandma and I took a long weekend to New York City, where shopped until be dropped (literally). I can say it was one of the best experiences of my life.

We landed there around 1;30pm giving us more than enough time to explore around and certainly popping into a few shops. When hearing the hype about New York you would expect it to be super busy as if you cant move around and that you have to walk millions of miles. However my experienced almost felt as if I was in central London, it was busy yes , don’t get me wrong. But was not a all what I expected.

We were staying in Midtown right next to the worlds biggest Macys (woop). As we were staying right next to the Empire State building we had to go up there! The elevator up was really scary as it had a glass roof and you could see how fast you were going up. A short but scary 38 seconds later we were up there as I’ve never been some where so windy. But the view was worth it you could really see everything from the statue of liberty to central park and times square.

Day 2; on our second day we woke up about 6am due to the fact we had really bad jet lag. However today we were literally going to shop till we dropped. We set off around 8am and went to the Starbucks around the corner where we all got a coffee and a bagel , we ate this on the way to the bus stop where we caught a bus taking us to New Jersey to get to the outlets. On the way we saw some pretty cool views.

The rest of the day was spent just shopping and more shopping. We went into shops such as forever 21, sephora, nike , century 21 and manyyyyy more. That night we were too tired to go out for a meal so whilst walking back to the hotel we spotted a fast food place called chick-fil-a. And let me tell you they were that was the nicest fast food I’ve ever had!

Day 3; on our 3rd day we decided to to sight see as it was our last full day. We set off and went to the world trade center museum. whilst walking around i really had shivers going up my spine . to think that thousands of innocent people died there really made you feel a certain way that you couldn’t discribe. when seeing the fire engines crushed and atifacts from the planes and buildings you realise that people had to go through this. One thing that really got me was the voicemails people left for there loved ones, and the fact there were peoples shoes recovered.

We finished going around the museum and decided to head back to mid town, on the way back we stopped off at some shops and took photos of certain landmarks.

when night fell we decided to go to times square where we grabbed dinner from one of New York most famous pizza places Joe’s pizza where we queued for 25 minutes, but it was well worth the wait. We sat and ate the pizza on benches outside of times square. After eating our pizza we decided to take a walk round times square where we took photos and went into some iconic shops such as the Hershey’s store.

Once looking around times square we only had one last thing to see and that was to go up the Rockafella center. Whilst waiting to go up we went and sat down where we were watching people ice skate on the most iconic ice rink . I felt as if I was in every christmas movie that was set in New York. The view was breathtaking we couldn’t see much as it was dark but by seeing all of the buildings and lights, I can defiantly say New York is the city that never sleeps.

at the top of the rock!

Our last day; our flight was leaving at 6 pm so we had to have left by 3;30, so we decided to do some last minute shopping . We went into the local Target and bought tons of sweets for my brother as he didn’t come and after that we decided to go to the grand central terminal where we took some photos , and this is where we ended our trip.

It was honestly one of the best experiences of my life and I hope to be back soon.
